| A BEAUTIFUL GOOSE |
| These three geese were three of the most beautiful geese I have ever seen, probably because of their admiration for the goose in the middle. Everywhere they went they had this orange nosed goose in the middle. They never left that goose for anything. It gave me the impression that this goose was their child, but probably she is their mother? I could not identify them because basically I had never seen anything like it. They looked like Canadian geese but their characterics were so different than Canadian geese. On the right and left geese, their Canada Goose heritage is very apparent from the dark neck, facial pattern, and overall body pattern, but the white behind the bill point to a domestic goose parent. Some very nice people from Indiana birding discussions said they thought it was a collection of domestic Greylag and Greylag X Canada hybrids. Someone suggested maybe a mixture of Swan goose, greylag and Canadian geese. At the time I did not know what they were talking about, but I have been studying a little bit on all that information. To be honest, I don't feel like I know much more, even after all that studying. ANYWAY, I THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP AND I JUST DETERMINED I WOULD CALL THEM "BEAUTIFUL GEESE" When I first started birding in the year 2003, I came across this beautiful goose all alone just swimming in the backside of the bushes. After all these years, I finally know a little bit about it. |
